Comcast Touts Gigabit Internet Rollout

Comcast today said its ultra-fast gigabit internet service is now available to "nearly all" of the 58 one thousand thousand homes and businesses in its service surface area, which covers 39 states and Washington, D.C.

The deployment, which kicked off 19 months ago, "represents the fastest rollout of gigabit speeds to the nearly homes in the country," co-ordinate to Comcast.

The visitor's residential Xfinity Gigabit Internet service uses network connections that are already in near customers' homes to simplify installation.

"We've been able to do this without having to dig up blossom beds and pull new wires into people's homes," Eric Schaefer, Comcast's SVP and Full general Manager of broadband, automation, and communications, told PCMag today.

Comcast did not specify how many of its Xfinity Net customers have signed upward for gigabit service, simply said 75 percent currently get speeds of 100 megabits per second or higher.

Comcast also offers xFi Pods, small-scale devices that plug into power outlets to expand your domicile'south Wi-Fi to difficult-to-achieve areas.
